The future looks bright for occupational therapy! The career
of occupational therapist has made the U.S. News &
World Report list of 31 "Best Careers 2008." The
job of an occupational therapy consultant was also listed as a
"smart specialty."

Evidence Byte: New International OT
Database
Evidence-based resources and tools for OT have been added to
JBI COnNECT, a Web site maintained by the Joanna Briggs
Institute in Australia. The site's information is aimed at
facilitating clinical decision making at the point-of-care.
Resources include databases of best practices, systematic
reviews, and a patient outcomes program. A subscription is
required.

Emergency Preparedness for People With
Disabilities
A new federal Web site provides practical information on how
people with and without disabilities can prepare for an
emergency. Guidance and resources are also available for health
care providers, caregivers, and other groups.

of his or her practice? The answer to this question, plus

Medicare & Reimbursement News
The Medicare Physician Quality Reporting
Initiative (PQRI) has been extended through 2008. AOTA
advocated for and successfully attained eligibility for OTs in
private practice to report on eight quality measures this year.

Seeking New AJOT
Editor-in-Chief
This July marks the end of Mary Corcoran's 5-year term
as editor of the American Journal of Occupational
Therapy. AOTA is searching for a new editor to continue
her good work in advancing the journal as a leader in
publishing high-quality OT research. Applicants are urged to
apply by February 1, 2008.
