AOTA Announces 2007 Elections Results
The AOTA Nominating Committee last week congratulated the
newly elected candidates and thanked all those who ran for
offices, as well as those AOTA members who voted. Also,
students elected new leaders in the Assembly of Student
Delegates Steering Committee Election, and broke all previous
records for voting participation.

New Resource for Compliance With CMS Documentation
Requirements
AOTA has developed a fact sheet to assist occupational
therapists in complying with the documentation requirements in
the recently released CMS Transmittal 63. The fact sheet offers
an explanation of the requirements and a template to assist in
compliance. CMS has reviewed the document, and the agency has
agreed that it can be useful in navigating their
requirements.

Evidence BYTE: Setting Up an Evidence-Based Health Program
Using What Works: Adapting Evidence-Based Programs to
Fit Your Needs is a training tool for educators and health
promoters sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. This
course, available free on a CD-ROM, discusses how to choose an
evidence-based health program, modify it to meet the specific
needs of a population, and evaluate the success of the
program.

Indiana Licensure Passes House
On February 23, the Indiana House of
Representatives passed licensure legislation for occupational
therapists and occupational therapy assistants by a vote of
88-3. The legislation now moves to the State Senate for
consideration. AOTA supports licensure for occupational therapy
practitioners because it provides guidelines and standards that
protect consumers and improve the profession as a whole.

People in the News
Graduate students at Tufts University's Boston School of
Occupational Therapy are working to highlight the need for
long-term support to rebuild post-Katrina New Orleans. In
January 2007, 16 students went to the city to continue
clean-up efforts and work with local occupational therapy
practitioners.
