Capitol Hill Day a Huge Success!
On September 17, 120 occupational therapy practitioners and
students gathered in Washington, DC, for the largest Capitol
Hill Day event in AOTA's history. There, they met with
members of Congress to advocate for occupational therapy's
contribution to health and wellness.

Evidence Byte: Health Protection
Research
Advancing the Nation's Health: A Guide to Public
Health Research Needs, 2006-2015, developed by the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention, emphasizes the need for
future evidence-based programming and research. It covers many
areas of importance to occupational therapy, including
promoting health to reduce chronic diseases and disability,
creating safer and healthier places, and promoting
interdisciplinary, cross-cutting health research.

AOTA Takes Action on Medicare Physician Fee Schedule
AOTA submitted detailed comments to the Centers
for Medicare & Medicaid Services addressing policy issues
in the proposed rule on the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule
(MPFS), including therapy qualifications and requirements, the
outpatient therapy cap limits, physician quality reporting,
physician self-referral, and comprehensive outpatient
rehabilitation facility issues.
