OT Professors Offer Toy Tips for the Holidays 
Toys that allow for creativity, imagination, manipulation, and change will rarely end up in the "toy graveyard," said Roger Ideishi, JD, OT/L, a professor at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. For older children, both he and Professor Paula Kramer, PhD, gave a thumbs up to newer video games such as the Nintendo Wii™ that can provide healthy exercise—and an opportunity for parents to join the fun. The professors were featured in the Health News Digest online.

Seeking New AJOT  Editor-in-Chief 
July 2008 will mark the end of Mary Corcoran's 5-year term as editor of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy. AOTA is searching for a new editor to continue her good work in advancing the journal as a leader in publishing high-quality OT research. Interested applicants are requested to apply by January 11, 2008.

Medicare Removes Certification Requirement on OT Power Wheelchair Evaluations 
After more than 2 years of advocacy, AOTA staff has convinced the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to eliminate a provision that would have required an additional certification for OTs performing wheelchair evaluations for higher-end power devices.

Evidence Byte: Interventions for Child Welfare Populations 
The California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC) can be used to identify, select, and implement practices that promote child and family well-being, improve child safety, and increase family and community stability. CEBC reviews programs according to the strength of the evidence and relevance to child welfare populations.
